This spiky fellow is one of the largest rodents in the world, weighing up to 66lbs (30kg), and growing to almost 3ft (1m) in length. If the sight of its 33cm (13in) quills are not enough to deter a predator, it stamps its feet, clicks its teeth and shakes its tail quills. If all that still doesn’t work, it turns around and runs backwards, ramming the predator with its rear quills, causing serious injury and even death!
